All of the natural history appendices above are one-page in size, with black and white sketches, to help identify flora and fauna. Clearly, color figures and photos would be better. The following books and pamphlets are the best simple, local guides with color that we've seen.

	Wildflowers of Point Reyes National Seashore ©1996 PR National Seashore Assoc. 22 pages, about 4x12" $6.95 This color guide (sold at the Point Reyes Visitor Center) provides photographs of 60 common flowers. Text includes common name, family, scientific name, season and location.			Local Birds of Marin County ©2002 Local Birds Inc. 6 panels, about 6x6" $4.95 Laminated foldout with sea birds on one side and shore birds on the other side. Text includes size, color and season.
	California Trees and Wildflowers Pocket Naturalist Series by James Kavanagh ©2000 Waterford Press 12 panels, about 4x12" $5.95 A handy pamphlet with 6 panels of flowers and 4 panels of trees and shrubs. Text includes commmon name, scientific name and size. Color figures are a little small.			Mac's Field Guide to California Coastal Birds ©2000 The Mountaineers Books. 1 page, about 8x12" $4.95 A one-page laminated field guide. Good for a car or boat, but not for carrying in your pocket.
